Tow truck driver killed by passing car

Police are still investigating the death of a 49-year-old tow truck driver who was struck by a vehicle Tuesday on Highway 3, near Montgomery Street.

The driver, from LaSalle, was changing a tire on a car when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a man from London.

OPP spokesperson Sgt. Rick Tonial said the truck's yellow flashing lights were on at the time of the incident.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the tow truck driver was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

Tonial said traffic collision investigators finished their work on scene just before 3 p.m. and all lanes of traffic were opened at that time.

The road was closed to westbound traffic for three hours between Howard Avenue and Cabana Road.
